Material-specific microbiomes on bioplastics

Biodegradable plastics made from biogenic raw materials are becoming increasingly important in various sectors, such as the packaging industry or agriculture and forestry. In the construction industry, too, replacing fossil-based materials is playing an increasingly important role in the context of sustainability.

Isocyanate-free polyurethane binders in adhesive and coating applications

Coating systems based on regenerative raw materials are still a niche product. Based on existing research results (TRL ≤ 4-6) in the field of isocyanate-free polyurethanes (NIPU) from regenerative raw materials, this project aims to create conditions that will make bio-based polyhydroxyurethane binders (PHU) more competitive compared to conventional polyurethanes (PU).

EPH, TFI and BGFC intend to cooperate in System 3+ of the new CPR

On 18 December 2024, the new EU Construction Products Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2024/3110 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 November 2024 laying down harmonised rules for the marketing of construction products and repealing Regulation (EU) No 305/2011) was published in the Official Journal of the European Union.

IHD and EPH at BAU 2025

In a few weeks, BAU 2025 (13-17 January 2025) will open its doors.

Once again, the EPH will be presenting itself together with its parent company, the IHD, at the world's leading trade fair for architecture, materials and systems in Munich.

Development of peat-free cover soils for champignons and other cultivated mushrooms

For champignons and other compost-cultivated mushrooms, mainly 85 % peat-containing imported cover soils (approx. 55,000 t/a) from Poland and the Netherlands are used. Peat is only available in limited quantities, mainly for nature conservation reasons, and will no longer be available for mushroom cultivation from 2030.
